H.264 IP Cameras are Now Supported

Starting with version 1.34, IP Camera Recorder has support for H.264 IP Cameras.

What is H.264?
H.264 is the next-generation video compression technology.

What are H.264 advantages?
H.264 video compression provides many advantages over traditional compression (JPEG).

  • Video from H.264 IP Cameras consumes 5-10 times less space than same quality video from traditional (JPEG) cameras.
  • You can put more H.264 cameras on the same network that JPEG camera. This is especially important if your cameras are on Wi-Fi network.

Now you can take advantage of H.264.
We have added H.264 drivers for Trendnet, Ubiquity and Y-Cam cameras.

Many other H.264 cameras will work with IP Camera Recorder in one of the following ways:

While adding a camera to the IP Camera Recorder,

  • Add your camera as an ONVIF camera. About 2000 IP Camera models are ONVIF compatible.
  • Add your camera as RTSP camera. You will need to find RTSP URL of your camera.
